I'm wondering what I should do to resolve the problem. I noticed that the same problem has been reported several times, even with the full generic version of the True Image program, and that it related to missing drivers on the Boot CD.Īs a solution a different boot CD ISO file was offered as a download to True Image customers through their "My Products" page, but I couldn't find the same solution offered to customers of the Western Digital Edition of the program.Īnother solution that was offered was to download the trial version of the True Image program and burn a Boot CD using the trial version and use that Boot CD to do the backups/restores, however I am not too comfortable with that in case it is like using pirated software. I have searched through the Knowledgebase and Forums on both the Western Digital and Acronis sites regarding this problem. I have contacted Western Digital and they tried to help me but couldn't suggest any solutions and in the end they told me that I should be contacting Acronis regarding this problem. If I use the Acronis True Image Western Digital Edition program that is installed on the hard drive to perform a backup, it does recognise the attached USB Western Digital drive and it works, however if the Boot CD is used it doesn't recognise the drive and the program stops at the error message. This error makes it impossible to use the program, even though I do have a Western Digital drive attached to the PC when I boot any of them up. Also you can upgrade to a full version of the product at. "Detecting devices: Attach a Western Digital hard drive to launch the program, or click Cancel to quit. When I boot any of the 4 PCs with the Boot CD, the program stops with the following message: I have 4 PCs (1 Desktop & 3 Laptops) which I wish to backup onto an external USB laptop sized drive enclosure which has a Western Digital laptop drive installed into it.

I have the latest version of Acronis True Image Western Digital Edition (tih_s_e_14010.exe) and have created a Boot CD using the Bootable Media Builder option.
